Ames Hill drug busts

Postby Rippington on Wed May 04, 2016 10:03 pm

Tonight at Town Meeting we learned that there are a large number of drug busts that have occurred at Ames Hill and continue to occur. This is what happens when you put a large number of people together cramped up in multi-story apartments and many buildings. We need to get away from this and vote down all new high density condos. More research buildings. They will eventually be be filled by companies who don't want to pay the high prices of the Burlington area.

Yes now that we are going to hire an Assistant Town Manager one of his/her jobs will be to promote Tewksbury as a more affordable alternative to Burlington and especially Cambridge/Boston.

This is the THIRD major drug bust in the Ames Lodge apartment complex since this thread was started just 18 months ago! And here we see that the 'predictions' made back then by the posters on this board came true and then some! I have read elsewhere that there is relatively no screening applicants in order to rent there, no lease required nor background checks. I guess as long as you've got the money....which obviously isn't a problem for these drug dealers who set up shop there! Management company or someone needs to be held accountable! By our own police chief's words....the place is on the drug pipeline from Lawrence. And all the additional police calls that go there on a nightly basis are on the Tewksbury taxpayer's dime! It's disgusting and more importantly dangerous!

This is pretty classist and racist. Why would you assume it is the living environment?

Racecard?? Seriously where in this conversation was race ever mentioned??

Living environment..? Yes of course. The more people, the more crime. Simple math. That is why there is more crime in the cities.

When people buy homes, is "location to dense apartments" one of the checkboxes that people look for when buying homes? Why is that??

Yes. It could be something people look for. More services, better walkability, more stores open better hours.

You are the type of naive that is cancerous to the community at large. Race? Who cares? But class? You better believe it. We have lost the middle-class values of aspiring to be more, to behave properly, and to leave things better than we found them. Apartment living -- especially when out of its natural urban environment -- attracts parasitic people who want to bring their rat nest morals to communities once thought free of them. Ames Hill was stashed in a far corner of Tewksbury and forgotten, this is what you get. And the poster who mentioned the NH license plates at night? Absolutely. We are a drug tavern on the pike road.
