Main and Shawsheen Mobil Closing

M&S Mobil corner of Main and Shawsheen is closing. I hear they are moving somewhere behind Tune Town with just a repair shop. No gas at the new location.

You're refering to the one in the center of town. The one that's closing is in South Tewksbury, right across the street from Market Basket.

M & S is always higher than most gas stations in town. In fact, on 2 occasions, I have seen the M & S AAA tow truck filling up at Haffner's!!!!

Yeah I never went there. I usually went to the Gulf in Wilmington. Best prices around, even cheaper than Haffners.

Gas prices were high there, but I never had a problem with the mecahanics there and they always stood by there work.

I had a bad experience there once. This was a few years ago, they had a young lady working as a mechanic performing oil changes etc. Never went there again. Just my two cents.

Someone tell them to slow down when driving around town before they kill someone. I swear I have never seen any of those tow trucks going less than 50 heading down Shawsheen Street.

The only reason they were filling up elsewhere are because the trucks are diesel. M&S doesn't have diesel pumps.

We're friends with the owners - when you're making next to nothing for profit per gallon on gas, and have to prepay the tank fills, generally you shy away from wanting to do business as a gas station.

The repair/tow shop will be located behind Tune Town.

No i'm talking about the one at shawsheen and Main. Sometimes he's a quarter more than sunoco. I have used their repair shop and had no problems. Owner seems like a hard working guy. Maybe they'll put a dunkin donuts there. We need one.

The only Sunoco I know of is (and it's no longer a Sunoco) the one in the center of town across the street from the Mobil there. I don't know of one in Southbury.

While were on the subject why couldn't this have happened a few years ago when they were redoing the intersection there?

Your point is clear. Their gas was way more than other stations. Personally I don't buy gas from Exxon or Mobil. They all overcharge.

Red - do you mean, why couldn't the business been in fiscal crisis a few years ago? I guess they must have timed it wrong.

Cozmo - I'll find out today - it has been an on-going move though, so they may already be up and moving.

I agree that the gas prices were high there - but then again, Shell across the street has been no better lately. The price-board that constantly gets me is the gas station by the library...sometimes his prices are way higher than everyone else in town. I suppose it all comes down to trying to keep your business open, when the majority of that price per gallon is going to the supplier.
