Direct Auto Parts Building

Anyone know what's going on at the closed Direct Auto Parts building across from Boudreau's? They are putting up a fence on the property that looks like one of those fences they put up when they are going to do some construction.

More likely the properties insurance co is demanding this due to the many attempted breakins.

Nice spot for a subway right across from that nice big LED red sign and just down the road from the phallic cell tower . So much for all the master zoning and special districting - Wilmington seems to be spinning hay into gold . we just spin.

A Subway? How does that help the town? The last thing we need is another sub shop, nail salon, bank, gas station... We need to be more creative than a Subway...

Well, if that IS the case, hope it's at least an "upscale" version from the lousy one at Walmart!

In the short distance between Shawsheen and Main st. and South and Main st. there are already four sub shops and Subway will make five, enough is enough!

There used to be a Subway where Beach Pizza is. The one time we ate there when we first moved to town, it was disgusting. A couple of months later they were a "generic" sub shop. We figured they lost their franchise license, but still kept the business for a little while. Shortly thereafter it became a Thai place. Don't know who the owner/operator of this franchise will be, but I'm gonna HOPE it's not the same people!

Subway at that location would be a good idea.
Its definitely better than the old eye-sore.

Yes, better than that old building but it just seems all we get is new sub shops all the time and these chains just hurt the small privately owned sub shops.

The chains can't compete with a real sub shop, though. Pizza Mia, Winners, Giovanni's, etc.... all better than any chain :-)

I heard the building was bought, is being leveled and a small office building is going into that space.

I have not had a chance to confirm this report.

Thank goodness Mr Wilson as hopefully that will jumpstart some sorely needed redevelopment in that wretched stretch of Route 38. Between that and the old Tewksbury Grand Prix looks like a war zone. Meanwhile little Wilmington has pretty much successfully redeveloped their entire strip of Route 38 and also LOWERED their residential property taxes.
