Apartment craze turning Tewksbury into Lowell

Postby bferrari on Sat May 13, 2017 5:20 pm

Congratulations to the developers, realestate ambulance chasing lawyers, most town Board members, for turning Tewksbury into Lowell.

Came out of Mahoney's today on Main Street and ended up grimacing at the monstrous sight of huge towering apartments on former carnation fields. Between these and thenew East Street complex, the planned complex on Astle Street, the Planned East Street/Andover /Route 93 mess, ALL with ZERO affordable units... we will NEVER get to the 10 % affordability so that we can say NO to high density projects!

But oh wait ... with our spineless Boards that we have now, we DONT say no anyway. We are becoming Lowell and everyone wonders why the housing market in Tewksbury is STAGNANT meanwhile everywhere else is on fire!

Yes yes I know there are a few real estate lawyers that love this and of course the builders... but everyone should be ashamed for allowing the turning of our town into this crap hole.

the sad part is most of the builders that are doing this live in town and raised their families here... none of these new developments bring up the average... it is really sad.

It is downright disgraceful. Other towns have single family homes being built -- but not Tewksbury! We are turning into Malden North!

People ultimately get the Government that they deserve. They elect and condone those who allow this to happen.
Experience hath shown, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.

We can't even imagine the additional traffic these developments will create. Route 38 north is already backed up to Haffners during the evening commute. I can see it back to the Wilmington line at least. Livingston St. will be swamped with cars of residents of Joan's Farm apts. heading to 38/Market Basket etc. If you're familiar with Washington St. in east Woburn during a week day, this is what I fear will happen here. Also, more cars on Brown St. and Whipple Rd. as people try to avoid 38. It's gonna suck.

stop electing people who are groupies of the developers
it is sick to watch them look starry eyed at the developers at these meetings wanting to be loved wanting to be part of the club
there are no grown ups any more only immature beings who want desperately to be "in" some artificial club and who have no ability to say "no"
Medford north is right. But then most of the town is made up of folk moved from the cities anyway so what do you expect? water seeks its own level.

You want to talk starry eyed? Nothing was more infuriating and proof positive above all else how connected and in bed with developers certain members of the Planning Board were. The day that Dick Cuoco retired and Chairman of the Planning Board Bob Fowler was gushing on how much he would be missed and how much he had done for this town.

I was godsmacked . How much he had done? Just look at all the development around town that his company served as engineering support for. Seriously what the f@$@%76K. Didn't even try to hide the bromance !
