Neighbor clearing land

I have a neighbor (abutter) clearing land but have never been notified and am wondering what the "rules" are for doing so?

Can't you just simply ask him what he's up to?

Well, I don't think you need any permits as long as the tree is on your land.

Neighbor clearing land

Never said it was a friendly neighbor so I won't be asking anytime soon. When we built something on our property we needed to go before the conservation committee because there is water within 100 ft, since this property has the same situation I was wondering can they clear trees without approval, and if they plan to build wouldn't it be smarter to get approval before clearing trees? Is there a department in town that polices this type of situation or do they go on the honesty policy...

You can go to the building dept. and see if any permits have been issued. Conservation is funny...we needed approval but our neighbor didn't to add on. We both abut wetlands.
