Inspection Stickers

I was talking with someone over the weekend who said they had heard that if you let your inspection sticker go past the expiration date, (i.e. getting your new sticker on Sept. 1st when it expired Aug. 31st)there will be a new $150 penalty. Can anyone confirm or deny?

I don't know if this changed now, but I got my sticker in July when it expired in June. Didn't pay a fine.

that is the amount fined if you're pulled over AND they can pull you over for just the expired sticker PLUS it's a moving violation.
