Yentile Farm Recreational Facility’s Groundbreaking Announced For March 29
WILMINGTON, MA — The Town is pleased to announce the Groundbreaking of the Yentile Farm Recreational Facility to occur Tuesday, March 29, 8AM at 9 Cross Street. All are welcome to join.

The Yentile Farm Recreational Facility project has been almost four years’ in the making. A steering committee of volunteers and staff have led the development of the project over the course of 27 meetings, three public workshops, and multiple presentations to the Board of Selectmen and Town Meeting. The resulting 9-acre park will be a destination for all ages and interests. It includes a multi-purpose artificial turf field and combined basketball/street hockey courts. It has walking paths, an event green for open recreation and large community activities, and game tables for passive recreational use. In the heart of the site is a signature playground for multiple ages, restrooms and concessions, and a picnic pavilion that provides shade while enjoying a meal or snack. The site includes 109 parking spaces to accommodate visitors throughout the season.

I'm thinkin' Wilmington ain't involved in the CPA program?

Yentile Farm Recreation Area now under construction.

A former large condominium complex now to become a community-enhancing recreational facility. Wouldn't it make sense to do the same with the former huge apartment complex whose zoning just got shot down... right on Main Street where everyone driving through town can see it. Will go a long way into erasing the TewksVegas stigma that seems to be growing on Main Street.

The recent rezone that just got shot down was not for the Main St./Victor Drive complex, rather it was for Ames Pond at the former Casino proposal site. HOWEVER, I DO agree with your premise to save it for open space for the community. I had heard Ginsburg offered to sell it to the Town at a 'discount' whatever that meant but Montuori (who doesn't LIVE here) turned it down. Who is he to speak for the residents who may think it's worth 'at least' investigating? I for one think this option should be explored. If Ginsburg is 'said' to give so much back to the community, let him PROVE it by making an offer that the Town could reasonably afford. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could do something pro-active to preserve this beautiful piece of acreage adjacent to Ames Pond for passive recreational enjoyment for the entire community!

I pass Yentile Farm frequently, and the transformation of the site so far is amazing! Would love to see more of that in town.

Well, call me crazy but isn't land like this what the CPA fund was set up for in the first place?

And if Mr Ginsburg wants to sell it at a discount to the Town all the better. I appreciate the offer and fully understand that he is entitled to sell it at full value should he choose to do so, it's his.

Why can't the residents be asked if they would support buying the land?

Yes, it is Harry, but that would depend on how much the asking price would be discounted down to....which as you pointed out he is not obligated to do, hence my comment on 'giving back' according to his so called 'good guy' reputation and agreeing to a reasonable price, not like the fund has 9m to spend....the rest would have to be bonded as done with the Town Hall.

if there is a way to keep the zoning as is on that property the discount may get bigger as the years go on...

The town is currently at 9.6%....I doubt Ginsburg would go that route and ruin his 'good guy' image.

When is the next Commonity Presevation Act group meeting? We should seriously discuss buying up this land and preserving it, especially being on the pond ! Let's not waste more money fixing yet another government building. Had we not done that we would have the money to buy up this lot, think about it !

CPC mtgs. are posted on the Town website. They meet on a 'need to' basis as opposed to bi-monthly or whatever.
